ABOUT

La línea el cuerpo collects my art work. My name is J. Tejeda.
I was born in Lima, Peru. I emigrated to Montréal, Canada in 2009 where I live and work since then.

I am an architect by profession and I navigate between art and architecture. I have made several architectural projects in Peru, while I also taught architectural drawing and design workshops in some architecture schools back in Lima. Since 2009 I am part of an architecture studio in the Montreal area. I merge my design passion and visual interest on big structures ''works of art'' such as bridges and urban infrastructures. My interest on drawing and painting has been present since my early years, but it is in 2020 that I started pursuing my passion by giving an important place to drawing, painting and the construction of a body of work.

As my body of work name, la línea el cuerpo (which means: the line the body), I focus in human figure, mainly male figure. The lines are an essential part of the construction of my drawings, as they are the masses and voids as well. Sensitivity, strength, movement and stillness are often part of the visual universe of my work. The emotion, as a beneath-the-skin inspiration is often present in my compositions, I try to put some beauty inside-out. I use mainly materials such as acrylic painting and acrylic based markers on paper and wood panels.
