Maison Depoivre art gallery presents this year the fifth edition of Positive Masculinity, an annual group art show. They are particularly proud of the selection of artworks from more than 30 local, national and international artists that they present this year. I have the opportunity to have some of my pieces exhibited in this show. This below, is the art show statement, written by Vincent Depoivre and Christophe Doussot, owners and curators for Maison Depoivre.
“In a world where news is often dominated by the actions and words of toxic men, it is important to hear other voices.
There are so many ways to be a man in 2023. There are so many ways to contribute to this world in a positive way that promotes tolerance and open-mindedness.
The group show “Positive Masculinity” invites artists to express their ideas and emotions on what it means to be a man, gay, bi or straight, of any background; the male feminist and the male who can also question his gender without feeling threatened.
This show also encourages conversations (sometimes through provocation) about LGBTQ2S+ issues and struggles, body positivity, as well as gender identification and its meaning.”
I have to say that I am very glad, and proud, to be part of this beautiful project. I couldn’t be happier to realize that the gallery’s vision, particularly for this show, is so in sync with my own artist statement. On top of that, my work is displayed at the same time as the work of my good friend and very talented artist from Montreal, David Edwards, which is a joy and an honor. I had the chance to meet and discover at the show opening reception, the work of artists from different places, such as Seth Ruggles Hiler, Stev’nn Hall, Christopher Walker and Caylen Monroe, as well as some other art crushes of mine, such as Terran McNeely, Francisco De la Barra, Davide Di Taranto, and Mike Rachlis, among others.
The show runs at Maison Depoivre art gallery (Base31, 343 County Road 22, Barrack #3, Picton, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada) from November 18th to December 22nd. Also, stay tuned for possible extra dates for the show in January 2024!

La galerie Maison Depoivre présente cette année la cinquième édition de Positive Masculinity, une exposition collective annuelle. Ils sont particulièrement fiers de la sélection d'œuvres de plus de 30 artistes locaux, nationaux et internationaux qu'ils présentent cette année. J’ai l'opportunité d’y avoir plusieurs de mes œuvres exposées. Ci-dessous, le communiqué de l'exposition, rédigé par Vincent Depoivre et Christophe Doussot, propriétaires et commissaires pour Maison Depoivre.
« Dans un monde où l’actualité est souvent dominée par les actions et les paroles d’hommes toxiques, il est important d’entendre d’autres voix.
Il y a tellement de façons d’être un homme en 2023. Il y a tellement de façons de contribuer à ce monde d’une manière positive qui favorise la tolérance et l’ouverture d’esprit.
L'exposition collective « Positive Masculinity » invite les artistes à exprimer leurs idées et leurs émotions sur ce que signifie être un homme, gay, bi ou hétéro, de toutes origines; l'homme féministe et l'homme qui peut aussi remettre en question son genre sans se sentir menacé.
Cette exposition encourage également les conversations (parfois par provocation) sur les enjeux et les luttes LGBTQ2S+, la positivité corporelle, ainsi que l'identification de genre et sa signification. »
Je dois dire que je suis très heureux et fier de faire partie de ce beau projet. Je ne pourrais pas être plus heureux de réaliser que la vision de la galerie, en particulier pour cette exposition, est en ligne avec ma propre démarche artistique et ce que je veux exprimer dans mon travail. De plus, mes œuvres sont exposées en même temps que celles de mon bon ami et artiste très talentueux de Montréal, David Edwards, ce qui est une joie et un honneur. J'ai eu la chance de rencontrer et de découvrir au vernissage, le travail d'artistes venus de divers endroits, comme Seth Ruggles Hiler, Stev'nn Hall, Christopher Walker et Caylen Monroe, ainsi que d'autres coups de cœur, tels que Terran McNeely, Francisco De la Barra, Davide Di Taranto et Mike Rachlis, parmi d’autres.
L'exposition a lieu à la galerie Maison Depoivre (Base31, 343 County Road 22, Barrack #3, Picton, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada) du 18 novembre au 22 décembre. Restez également à l’affût pour d’éventuelles dates supplémentaires pour l’exposition en janvier 2024 !
