ART SUR PAPIER À LA GALERIE ERGA

Du 4 au 16 juin dernier, j’ai eu l’opportunité de participer à la quatrième exposition collective annuelle Art Sur Papier, organisé par la Galerie ERGA à Montréal.

 

 Cette exposition compta avec le travail de plus de trente artistes locaux. Le commissariat réalisé par Demetrios Papakostas et Stella Witcher a su mettre en valeur la créativité des artistes dans une collection diverse et surprenante, passant par des sculptures immersives, dessins, gravures et peintures aux aquarelles délicates. Tel que le titre de l’exposition le dit, l’exposition mit en lumière les possibilités illimitées de l'art du papier.

Ce fut pour moi un grand plaisir de pouvoir montrer mon travail, en particulier l’œuvre Rescue me – Part I, à côté des œuvres des artistes de grand talent et dont les œuvres montrent le regard et la voix de chacun dans un bel amalgame de la communauté artistique de Montréal.

 

Lors du vernissage, j’ai pu faire la connaissance de plusieurs d’entre eux. Parmi ces images, vous trouverez, en plus de mon travail, des œuvres de Barbara Ottevaere, Yves Lefevre, Marc Larouche, Theresa Passarello, Mary Hayes, Emma Pittson, Frank Caracciolo, Sabrina Garneau, Jeremy Desbiens, Gazelle Bastan, Stéphanie Viens et Alyson Champ.

 

Pour la deuxième semaine de l’exposition, la galerie a organisé une table ronde de discussion avec des artistes. Jeudi le 13 juin, j’ai fait partie d’un panel composé des artistes Mary Hayes, Gazelle Bastan et moi-même, modéré de manière remarquable par Stella Witcher. Lors de cette soirée, nous avons discuté et approfondit à propos de notre rapport avec le papier comme support et matière de nos œuvres, ainsi que sur l'inspiration et les techniques qui se cachent derrière les œuvres exposées et bien plus, finissant avec une tournée de questions-réponses du public.

Pour ceux et celles qui ont pu passer voir l’exposition, j’espère que vous avez bien aimé vous submerger dans l’atmosphère de la créativité montréalaise. From June 4 to 16, I had the chance to participate in the fourth annual Art Sur Papier group exhibition, organized by Galerie ERGA in Montreal.

 

This exhibition presented the artwork of more than thirty local artists. Curated by Demetrios Papakostas et Stella Witcher, the art show highlighted the artists creativity in a diverse and stunning collection, from immersive sculptures, drawings and printmaking to delicate watercolors. As the exhibition’s name says it, it showcases the boundless possibilities of paper artistry.

It has been a great pleasure for me to be able to show my artwork, in particular my art piece Rescue me – Part I, alongside the works of very talented artists whose works show the perspective and voice of each one of us in a beautiful amalgamation of the artistic community of Montreal.

 

During the opening, I was able to meet several of them. Among these images, you will find, in addition to my work, works by Barbara Ottevaere, Yves Lefevre, Marc Larouche, Theresa Passarello, Mary Hayes, Emma Pittson, Frank Caracciolo, Sabrina Garneau, Jeremy Desbiens, Gazelle Bastan, Stéphanie Viens and Alyson Champ.

 

For the second week of the exhibition, the gallery organized an Artist talk. Thursday June 13th, I was part of a panel composed of artists Mary Hayes, Gazelle Bastan and myself, moderated remarkably by Stella Witcher. During this evening, we discussed and delved into our relationship with paper as a support and material for our works, as well as the inspiration and techniques behind the exhibited works and much more, ending with a round of questions and answers from the audience.
